The Ale And The Grail by Owen Niblock and Jem-Jenkins-Jones King Henry the First was a man of thirst who liked to drink and drink And spending time inside the pub would give him time to think. He looked upon his life gone by and thought it was a bore, To sit upon the throne all day and rule for evermore. Adventure is what he desired, he'd find himself a quest. So he resolved to find a crown, a trinket or a chest. He met a stranger at the bar who told him of a treasure, That once was used by Jesus Christ, it's worth was beyond measure. With this task King Henry made his way across the land, Such was his haste he clean forgot his glass was still in hand. Across the sea, to distant lands with royal fleet he'd sail. He'd scour every inch of land, this quest he would not fail. He fought ten dragons and a mouse to prove his swordsmanship. He beat the dragons but the mouse gave him a bloody lip. He managed feats that mortal men would never even try, But time again that mouse came back and often made him cry. The evil mouse was his downfall, he turned his tail and fled Back to his home kingdom he ran and hid beneath his bed. Eventually he dared come out and went to the ale house He threatened death to anyone who dared mention the mouse. The inkeeper asked how it went and what he'd gone to seek, He wondered why he'd not been in his local for a week. "I went to find the golden cup, they call the holy grail" "Oh that old thing?" The barman said as he let out a wail. "If only you had come to me and told me of your task I could have shown you where it was, you only had to ask. It's been with you since you left here, you had it in your hand. The glass you pilfered in your haste, now, do you understand?" King Henry's eyes they opened wide "You mean the holy grail, Was what I used here everyday?" He started to go pale. The barman sighed and raised a brow "The ending of your tale Will be for you to take this cup and drink some holy ale."
