#22 of 100: The Santa Express. |

I might have a go at some iambic pentameter tomorrow. Today though, I'm feeling a little lazy as I've been working on the house most of the day. So this is a free-form poem about the steam train we went on earlier today in Baenavon. The train itself and the outward journey was lovely -- the return journey was a bit noisy (kids & families all shouting and that -- I'm such a quiet soul *he he*).
The Santa Express. Tchhh-cu-poo. Tchhh-cu-poo. Poop pooooop. Welcome aboard the Santa Special. Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Have a mince pie and a glass of sherry. Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Watch the snow-filled scenery pass. Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Slow to a peaceful stop.
Poop pooooop. All aboard the Santa Express. Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Families screaming, making a mess. Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Kids with their presents, who got the best? Tchhh-cu-poo -- tchhh-cu-poo. Slow to a noisy end.
Poop pooooop.

#21 of 100: Talking to my Unborn Child. |

We finally got the snow (and a lot of it!) about 5 inches or more. Everywhere looks really pretty -- we went out for a nice walk today and took some photos. I'll upload some when I get the chance. We're spending a few days trying to sort the house out before Christmas -- today I re-cemented the fire (been burning most of the day and stopped getting fumes coming into the house *touch wood*), decorated the tree and finally sorted out all my music stuff in the corner of the lounge. It turned out that the cat had weed in one of my boxes of stuff (filled with expensive sound equipment) it seems to have mostly gone on power adapters -- I'm really really hoping they're not dead as it'll be tricky to get new ones for some of the things I have. Today's poem is about talking to my unborn child while my wife is asleep. Talking to my Unborn Child. Is there something wrong with speaking to my unborn child? I do it when my wife is sleeping. If she wakes, will she be riled? I start with simple calculation: Things like Algebra, and then some Trigonometry I whisper SOHCAHTOA. Calculus is next; some Differentiation. Followed by String Theory, and then some Integration. Imaginary numbers -- are always lots of fun -- and then some simple Physics, the motion of the moon and sun. Before you're born we have to get through all the things you'll need -- Maths & Physics & Computers -- I'll just plant the seed. My wife has been confused of late. She suddenly knows Mathematics. I hope she doesn't work it out before we've done particle physics.

#20 of 100: Over the moon. |

This was inspired by the drive over the mountain on the way home this evening. Over The Moon A sliver of winter moon hangs low dancing near the hills and valleys as we journey ever onward up the mountain road. Glistening snow radiates the moonlit terrain. Creates a picture fit to inspire our hearts with awe. A frozen lake slides by Whispering secrets of icy melevolence, daring us to step upon it's iridescent skin. We clamber on. The sheep stand stock still, breath of mist hangs looming in the dark, glowing eyes survey intruders on their plain. We reach the zenith and we stop. Outside our coat of steel and glass, we crunch our way through powdered crystal path and underneath our feet the land will open over fields of darkness broken by the pinprick lights of life below. As our speech is taken from our mouths and hands are clasped as one, we look down upon the moon and stars an feel as Gods might once have done. |
